Walker Rocks is a partnership between the Walker County Government and the Walker County Chamber of Commerce, a separate 501 (c)(6) member-based organization, to promote outdoor recreation & tourism in Walker County, Georgia.
In 2016, Walker County’s tourism industry:
- Supported 640 jobs
- Generated $63.41 million in direct tourist spending
- Generated $2.79 million in state tax revenues
- Generated $1.47 million in local tax revenues
- Generated $17.39 million in payroll
Without the impact of tourism:
Each Walker County household would need to be taxed an additional $166 per year to replace taxes generated by tourism economic activity, based on research from the state of Georgia’s Department of Economic Development.
